Young gets top CCM honors in Placerville

Rick Young crossed the checkered flag to take the Capital City Midgets win in the American Le mans style joint race with the BCRA Midgets. Racing in front of his hometown crowd, he could not have picked a better night for his first win of the season. Young finished 8th overall, while Justin Grant took the overall win for the BCRA.
Young from Shingle Springs, CA started 11th, and worked his way up to 5th prior to losing two positions to more powerful BCRA cars. For most of the main event Young battled with team mate Dillon Silverman, until Silverman was collected in a Nick Foster spin on lap 16. At that time Young never looked back leading the Lonny Alton of Cameron Park and Matt Land of Elk Grove to the flag.
The next Capital City Midgets race will be June 20th at Petaluma Raceway. That race will see the debut of the Chevy EcoTec engine. In addition the group will be joined by new member Cody Spencer. We also expect to see the debut of a new Lonny Lopez owed midgets as well as a Beast owned by Keith Iaia.
Young used the win to move back to second place in the point standings only 6 points behind Silverman.
