Silverman tops the CCM racers in Placerville

 

8-8-09   Dillon Silverman from Chico, CA drove the Lonny Alton owned Stalth SuperFocus to top honors in the American LeMans style race with the BCRA Midgets.  Silverman who started 13th overall overcame a first lap mishap to finish 12th overall, but good enough for the CCM win.

 

Silverman who qualified 13th fast out of 23 cars (most full midgets) just missed the inversion by 1 place.  On the first lap of the feature he tangled with the #8 midget being driven by Bill Lindsey.  It would not be the only time the two would put on a show for the fans.  The last part of the race saw these two swap positions for the final 4 laps, before Silverman on a drag race to the flag.

 

Mr. Midget Brad Kuhn took the overall BCRA win.  

 

In the first heat, Cody Spencer quickly turned his pole position into a lead in heat one.  Cody got a great start over J.R. Williams making his first start withthe Capital City Midgets.  Matt Land moved into 2nd and chased Spencer for the first six laps before the full midget of Wink Schweitzer slipped by Land and had his eyes on Spencer.  The final lap saw Schweitzer beat Spencer across the line by .15 seconds.  Great work Cody and Matt!!

 

Land ran his new EcoTec motor in the CCM Legal configuration.  In the first heat his and Spencers cars were virtually the same which made the rules committee very happy.  There is still more work to do with the EcoTec but it was great to see the engines run together effectively.

 

In the second heat Dillon Silverman was the only CCM car starting on the pole.  Silverman gave the full midgets all they could handle eventually finishing 4th, but besting 3 former BCRA Champions, Nick Foster, Flyod Alvis and Glenn Carson.
